Happy Birthday Hip Hop

This year is hip hop 30th birthday. And as all of us who reach this age know we have to make a big decision to stay a kid or to grow up. Hip hop has always been about the youth it was about going against the grain. It was about pissin your parents off and taking joy worrying them. What do you plan to do with your life? There was always a seperation. Today kids and their parents rush to best buy or street corner to get the new jay-z or Lil jon. That's where the problem is. That's what killed rock music. Some of my coworker went to springfest and told me about the number of moms wildin out. Who wants to see their mom at spring break in a thong at that. See we forgot to grow up. We forgot that there comes a time in your life where you can't run the streets. You have to take care of home.

In atl the average age for grand mothers is 36. That a big problem. What's to happen to the elders of our community that showed us the right way. Where is the leadership?Hip hop is not the cause of all our problems but its a reflection of our problems. What direction are we going. If your over 35 and still rapping about the streets that a problem. Before 92 hip hop music or rap music was always changing you had the party era the politcal I'm proud to be black era. Then dre drop chronic. That one CD change the game forever. We had the weed era to the bling era to crunk.... Its been down hill. Where do we go from here?

Don Imus

I guess it's my time to put in my two cents on the whole Don Imus issue. First I want to say I don't agree with the comments that he made. Freedom of speech is a great responsiblity and to be on the air is a great privilege. Don Imus radio show speaks to over 3 million people a day and his TV show reaches even more people. To call a black woman a nappy headed ho is not funny and is not within the context inwhich his show operates in. The girls basketball team is not a part of the social or political area where Imus makes his crazy and irresponsible comments on the regular. Don Imus is 60 plus. He has been around when this country was at its worst. He knows the pain the words he was saying has had in this country. And to say because a rapper makes the same comment is crazy! You a grown ass man who sits and talks to the most important people in this country and your justify your comment because of rappers how stupid are you! We as a people can't sit around and let comments that don Imus said to just come and go. That why the Al sharpton and the other blacks that speak> on the air to shine light on the craziness that's going on in the media. I work for a media company Imus views are not just his own. I've said this three years ago. There are certain people who want to bring the 50s back and their plan is slowly unfolding. Imus does good things for kids with cancer and yes he has help out certain black people but just because you cool with a few black folks don't mean you can call them the N word. The sad part is that more comments will be said and more of our basic Freedom will be taken away from us. Imus had the right to say what he said but has to face his punishment like a man. The really sad part about the whole thing is that CBS radio and NBC make a lot of money with Imus. So after the two weeks are done it will be business as usually. Money talks and if his rating stay the same then they will continue to support Imus and his hate. They said how nice and caring john Wayne and Elvis and we all know how they felt about black people. So I'm saying all this to say don't blame the rappers. Blame don Imus and don Imus only. Don't fall for the tricknolgy. Don Imus is going to do his two weeks and go about his millions. He ready for it to go away so he can get back at the money at hand. But what are we as a people going to do to uplift us up! Growing up in Maryland calling a woman a nappy headed ho or hardcore ho meant you were ready for a fight. So for him to say its funny or a joke is crazy. That type of talk is not funny and not a joke. Yes we have the deal with our own mess but we can't let someone to justify their actions because a rapper does it. What kind of sh&^ is that!
