This year is hip hop 30th birthday. And as all of us who reach this age know we have to make a big decision to stay a kid or to grow up. Hip hop has always been about the youth it was about going against the grain. It was about pissin your parents off and taking joy worrying them. What do you plan to do with your life? There was always a seperation. Today kids and their parents rush to best buy or street corner to get the new jay-z or Lil jon. That's where the problem is. That's what killed rock music. Some of my coworker went to springfest and told me about the number of moms wildin out. Who wants to see their mom at spring break in a thong at that. See we forgot to grow up. We forgot that there comes a time in your life where you can't run the streets. You have to take care of home.
In atl the average age for grand mothers is 36. That a big problem. What's to happen to the elders of our community that showed us the right way. Where is the leadership?Hip hop is not the cause of all our problems but its a reflection of our problems. What direction are we going. If your over 35 and still rapping about the streets that a problem. Before 92 hip hop music or rap music was always changing you had the party era the politcal I'm proud to be black era. Then dre drop chronic. That one CD change the game forever. We had the weed era to the bling era to crunk.... Its been down hill. Where do we go from here?
